This Website has No Code, or Does it?

So, you think you've got a keen eye for spotting the hidden codes that make a website tick, huh? Well, let's put that to the test with an exciting little puzzle that has been baffling users for quite some time now - thereico.com. Spoiler alert: if you don't want the secrets of this website's inner workings revealed, then read no further!

A while ago, I came across what seemed to be one of the best-looking websites on the planet - thereico.com. It appeared to be so gorgeously simple, almost like it had no code at all. But as a curious web developer, I couldn't help myself but inspect this site and see what was really going on. What I found was not only surprising, but also quite intriguing.

The Rick Roll Saga Begins

Two months ago, I created my own blog, which redirected users to a music video. A rick roll, to be more precise. You know, that cheeky little joke where you take unsuspecting folks on a wild ride down memory lane, serenaded by none other than Rick Astley himself.

This little prank of mine was, admittedly, a fun time for me. That is until a tech-savvy user decided to dig deeper and uncover the code behind my website, foiling my well-laid plans. The method I had used to redirect users was simple - a basic JavaScript command that changed the location of the page as soon as it loaded.

This was a little too simple and easy for the watchful eyes of the web-surfing population, so I decided to up the ante and make this puzzle a little harder to crack. And thus began my journey to create a seemingly code-less masterpiece of a website.

Concealing the Code

My first attempt at hiding the website's redirection code involved placing the JavaScript code inside what appeared to be Google Analytics tracking script. Most visitors would probably spot the Google Analytics code and move on, ignoring it as just another standard tracking feature found on nearly all websites.

Meanwhile, a separate script named `safe.js` runs in the background, simply logging some text in the browser's console and reloading the page. But the real secret lies in the Google Analytics code that has been injected with my custom JavaScript snippets.

You see, the script that's coming from Google is actually an injected gadget. This means that I can insert my own custom code into the script and receive the same tracking data that's returned by Google Analytics. In this way, I'm masking my true intentions while staying hidden in plain sight.

As a result, my website appears to have no code, but it is actually secretly redirecting users to the rick roll video all along.
