Now, let's get started with the design process!
Designing the Homepage
For this tutorial, we'll focus on designing the homepage of our modern freelancer agency website. We've already designed the header and the footer, as these elements are essential for a seamless user experience. We'll mainly be focusing on the hero section, which serves as the focal point of the homepage and aims to captivate your visitors right away.
Hero Section
1. Setting the section height: Start by setting the minimum height of the hero section to 900px. This gives you ample space to work with and ensures that this section will have a significant visual impact on your visitors.
2. Adding a grid to the section: After setting the height, you'll want to apply a 2x1 grid to your hero section. This will help you better organize the contents of the section and ensure that it looks neat and orderly.
3. Adding a container: With the grid in place, you'll now add a container to the right-hand side of the section. This container will host an image that adds visual interest to the section, but we'll be doing something different with this image to make it stand out from typical hero images. Stretch the container to the full width of the grid column it occupies, ensuring that the image will span the entire width of the right-hand column.
Image and Text Formatting
4. Selecting the image: Choose an image that best represents your business or the services you offer. This image should be visually engaging and professionally shot to increase the chances of capturing visitors' attention.
5. Adding a background gradient: In order to enhance the visual appeal of the image and to make it more unique, you can add a background gradient to the container. This gradient will serve as a captivating backdrop to the image, and you can experiment with different color combinations to find a style that best matches your brand identity.
6. Choosing typography and text placement: Finally, you'll want to format the text within the hero section to ensure that it looks both professional and on-brand. Choose a font and size that effectively communicates your message and complements the overall design of your website. When adding text to the left-hand side of the hero section, make sure it is well-organized and appropriately sized to maintain the section's visual appeal.
Making the Website Responsive
No website design is complete without ensuring that it's fully responsive and compatible with different devices, browsers, and screen sizes. Luckily, Editor X has built-in responsiveness tools that make this process seamless and efficient. Make sure you take the time to fine-tune your website's responsiveness so that it provides a consistent and enjoyable experience for your visitors across various devices.
