Editor X:Design Library & Masters Unleashed
If you're new to Editor X or simply want to learn how to make the most of this powerful web design platform, this blog post is for you. Our focus is on Editor X's Design Library and Masters, two fantastic features designed to make your web design process faster, easier, and more efficient.
Starting with the Editor X Design Library, think of it as a treasure trove of design assets, ready to be used in any of your projects. It hosts everything from pre-built sections and interactive elements to custom shapes and icons—whatever your project needs. But what if you need something truly unique and tailored to your project? That's where masters come into play!
Masters are section elements that work strictly on the current site, allowing you to create customizable and reusable components to be used across multiple pages. Think of it as a toolbox of design components that you can use consistently throughout your projects, ensuring a cohesive look and feel.
Now that we have a basic understanding of Editor X Design Library and Masters, let's explore how to use them effectively in our projects.
Creating and Using Masters in Editor X
As we learned in a previous lesson, Editor X automatically creates two master elements in your canvas: the green glowing sections labeled "Header" and "Footer." Accessing the masters panel is as simple as clicking the triangular icon in the top bar.
To create a new master, select the section block and right-click. From there, choose "set it as master" and give your new master a name. It will then appear in the masters panel for easy access.
Now you're ready to apply your master to different pages. Let's say you want to add a beautiful hero graphic to your home page. Simply right-click on the three dots above the cover in the masters panel, choose "all pages," and voila! Your master is now available for use across your entire site.
Customizing Masters and Saving Design Assets
One of the great features of Editor X is the ability to save your custom designs as design assets for future use. Let's say you've created a cool shape within a master section that you want to reuse in other projects. You can easily save this design asset for later use.
To save your custom design, right-click on the master element and select "save as design asset." Give it a name and save it to "my assets." You can now access this design asset in the add element panel under "design assets" and drag it to your canvas anytime, complete with all its properties and settings.
This feature makes it easy to reuse custom elements in future projects or even share them with other members of your team, streamlining your design process.
