How to Design a Sticky Scrolling Pizza Effect in Editor X

How to Design a Sticky Scrolling Pizza Effect in Editor X

Hello, web designers, it's Chef B. On the menu today is a delicious animated pizza website recipe that we will cook up using Editor X. We're going to play with some tantalizing animations and scrolling effects to create a pizza website where when you scroll, the pizza ingredients fall from the digital sky to build a mouthwatering Hawaiian pizza.

But first things first: In this hands-on tutorial, we'll be using a Creative Market purchase - it's a Photoshop file with all the layers of the pizza that we're going to build out. So, let's get started in Photoshop by exporting our pizza layers, then jump into Editor X and create our drool-worthy pizza website. You’re going to love the outcome!

Preparing our Pizza Ingredients

Alright, we need to start off with our pizza creator PSD in Photoshop, exporting each individual layer (our pizza ingredients) into PNG files that we can then upload directly to our media gallery in Editor X. This will allow us to easily use the images on our website.

> Pro Tip: Don't forget to optimize your images before using them on your website, as it helps to reduce the overall page load time, benefiting your website's performance and SEO.

Building the Animated Pizza Website in Editor X

Step 1: A Mouthwatering Section

We'll begin by labeling our section Pizza Maker X. To create a visually engaging scrolling effect, we want the height of this section to be quite tall. Set it to 700 viewport height (that's seven times the viewport height size). Give it a refreshing background color that fits your pizzeria's brand style. We're using a happy teal color for this tutorial.

Step 2: Dropping In Our Pizza Ingredients

Next, we need to upload each individual image (the PNG files we exported from Photoshop) to our media gallery in Editor X. After selecting all the files, drag them onto the canvas in the Pizza Maker X section.

Step 3: Play with Sticky Scrolling Effects

Now that we have our scrumptious pizza images in place, it's time to get creative with sticky scrolling effects. The gist of this effect is that the images will become sticky to the viewport, creating an exciting effect as we scroll down the website.

Select each pizza ingredient image and head to the Scrolling Effects tab in the properties panel. Within the properties panel, you'll find the option to create a sticky scrolling effect. Customize the sticky effect for each ingredient, being mindful of the Y-axis positions, as this will determine the animation's order when building the pizza. Experiment with the scroll effects, like the parallax effect, to give the site even more depth and motion.

Step 4: Cook Up A Tasty CTA

No web project is complete without a mouthwatering call-to-action (CTA) button! Add a button anywhere in the design so that visitors know where to click to get their hands on your tasty pizza. Customize the button text, colors, and other properties in the panel until you're happy with how it looks.

Step 5: Tweak and Polish

Once you've designed your scrolling pizza effect and included a CTA, it's time to fine-tune the visuals and fix any minor issues to ensure a seamless user experience. Preview the site on multiple devices and screen sizes, ensuring a smooth and captivating user interaction.

> Pro Tip: Consider improving the site's performance and collaboration by incorporating Lottie animations or integrating with external APIs or tools like Zapier, which will open up new possibilities for your website.
